Hvetter

It's been a pleasure talking to Hvetter whom we first noticed on Instagram playing music in what looked like an Indian city. Intrigued we decided to reach out and talk about what made him come to India, travel across the country, make music and friends along the way.

Musicmandir - Hello, please tell us a little bit about yourself?
Hi. I'm Hvetter. A guitarist from Israel . Was playing guitar in several bands in the scene in Israel until I was 24 and then I left the country.
For the last 10 years I’ve been traveling and living in many different places. About 6 years ago I needed a bit of cash so I started busking (playing in the streets) but I wanted to do it a bit differently so I picked up a loop station. Its a kind of an effect that lets you record (loop) yourself live and add some layers on top. That's when my affair with the looping started and I became an independent  solo musician.

Musicmandir - You've been travelling across India, which cities did you go to and can you tell us about how to picked out the cities you wanted to visit?
First time I visited India was 8 years ago. My first destination was Goa. I got stuck in Arambol for a few months . The music scene in Arambol is something else. That’s why I came back a year ago and stayed for the season. And this season as well 🙂 Arambol is a small fishing village in the north of Goa. Now its very very popular and you can pretty much find everything here. Yoga, parties and lots of live music.
Last season I had a tour thru the Israeli Embassy so I visited Delhi, Kolkata, Bangalore and Jaipur.
Apart from that I traveled in many other states to explore and enjoy the nature. My favorite will be Karnataka. Driving an Enfield thru the national parks and seeing the scenery was something ill never forget.

Musicmandir - You played a few gigs in Goa with a band, can you tell us about your fellow musicians?
Last season I formed a Trio. I met these two incredible musicians in Arambol. Or Lichter and Nadav Luzia. We met for jamming one day
And the magic was just there so we decided to take that to the stage. The concept was to improvise. And beautiful things happen when the connection between the musicians is strong. Nadav is a drummer and Or plays the Bass guitar. They are both from Israel and two of the most talented people I know. That was the strongest musical experience I’ve ever had because the music we played was very similar to the music I make by myself and it was just beautiful to create it live with other people on stage.

Musicmandir - Your music is generally instrumental with a loop pedal, what are your main inspirations?

My music is all instrumental and when I perform I use a loop station and many other effects.

A look into Hvetter's live setup.

I'm always asked what or who are my inspirations and its always a bit funny because the guitarists\bands that inspired me the most are very different then the music I make. But I guess you can still hear it in my music. Especially when I take a solo 🙂
My favorite guitarists, the one that influent me most gotta be Mark Knopfler, Eric Clapton , David Gilmour and Lindsey Buckingham (from Fleetwood Mac). There's many more but these are the first that come to mind.

Musicmandir - Any favorite Indian Musicians or songs that you enjoy?
I've recently took part in a festival in Goa. In that festival there was also an Indian band playing. I really really enjoyed their music and been listening to them ever since. The bands name is Peter Cat Recording Co. Give them a listen if you haven’t already 🙂
